Is the Grass Greener on the Other Side?

Judging by this picture the obvious answer would be "duh of course!" Ever notice your horse squeezing their head under the fence just to get a taste of that green grass? These three do it ALL. THE. TIME. Doesn't matter to them that there's a whole two more acres of green pasture beyond this picture, they want the goods on the other side. So we thought extending some panels out, making a small grazing area for them to munch on while I do the regular chores, would please them. We pounded posts and set the fence, and swung the side gate wide open! And much to my surprise, no matter how hard I tried to lure them with luscious green grass (and possibly some apple treats) they absolutely would not cross that fence line. It really got me to thinking about how in our lives we create this "invisible fence". We become comfortable with the certainty in our lives, and when someone swings the gate open we are too scared to cross for the fear of what's on the other side. Sometimes we see what other people have and think "Huh must be nice, I wish I had the money" or whatever it may be. The reality is that there is nothing that can keep you from success except yourself. Life's electric fence has shocked me a couple times and made me unwilling to try or do something, unless I was positive it would be perfect with NO chance of me failing. No one ever said it would be easy, but you have to be willing to take a chance on yourself for pete's sake. Never let the Nay Sayers and Debbie Downers (no offense to any Debbie's out there) put a hitch in your get-a-long. Will the grass be greener on the other side? Couldn't tell ya, but you'll never know if you don't take a risk.
